Sunny side up egg hack!

Updated: Jun 19, 2020

This simple trick will ensure evenly cooked egg and allow control of egg yolk to your liking!

I am very particular about my fried eggs... too runny and cold on top or cooked the whole way through is a no no! Trying to flip them always results in me breaking the yolks or over cooking them.

All you need to perfect your eggs is a non stick pan and a glass lid. You can use a metal lid, however the easiest way to judge when they're ready is to see through the glass and watch how the yolk jiggles :)

Instructions

  • Heat your pan well! It should be heated all the way through so the egg starts to set as soon as its crack. Too low heat and it will spread too far around the pan.

  • Lightly oil your pan and crack the eggs in quickly after each other. You can add as many eggs as you need as long as its done quickly.

  • Add a tablespoon of water directly onto the pan and immediately cover with lid and lower the heat. This technique will create heat throughout the entire pan using steam, cooking your yolk at the same time as the pan itself cooks the whites.

  • For myself, once the yolk starts to change to a lighter colour, its perfect inside for me. This doesn't take long so keep an eye on it.

Add your favourite sides and enjoy!
